Wie hem kent, associëert zijn naam met de ontdekking van het principe achter het bewegende beeld. Joseph Plateau wordt nog altijd het meeste geciteerd hierover, maar de Gentse wetenschapper heeft nog veel meer baanbrekende experimenten op zijn palmares.

Tien verrassende installaties tonen de actualiteit aan van Joseph Plateau als visionaire wetenschapper.

Uit de historische collectie van de Universiteit Gent worden ook unieke stukken bijeen gebracht, waaronder een aantal voor het eerst publiek gemaakt worden.

Met werk van David Blair, Juliana Borinski, Anna Franceschini, Adele Horne, Ann Veronica Janssens, Julien Maire, Simon Payne, Ief Spincemaille, Benjamin Verhoeven.

THE PLATEAU EFFECT

Those who know his name, usually associate it with the discovery of the principle behind moving images. Joseph Plateau is still quoted most frequently on this, but the Ghent scientist has a lot more revolutionary experiments on his credit.

Ten surprising installations demonstrate the contemporary importance of Joseph Plateau as a visionary scientist.

From the historical collection of the Ghent University a series of unique instruments are brought in, some of them shown publicly for the first time.

With works by David Blair, Juliana Borinski, Anna Franceschini, Adele Horne, Ann Veronica Janssens, Julien Maire, Simon Payne, Ief Spincemaille, Benjamin Verhoeven.
